Who is DIN?

Born and raised in Gippsland, Dean ‘Din’ Roberts has been hand-crafting Pinot Noir from the same small patch of red dirt near Leongatha since 2007. Dean and his wife Dayna are the hands and hearts behind Lithostylis wines. DIN wines are crafted from the same estate vineyard planted in 1997.

Dean picked up his nickname in Russia where his first name is rendered as Din in cyrillic. Given his obsession with making loud music, coupled with a generally calm and quiet demeanour, it seemed fitting and so has persisted.

Like all musicians, Din arrives late to work, but has a responsive attitude to grape growing and winemaking. He listens for the best way forward and often improvises, because he is ill-disciplined at record-keeping and allergic to doing the same thing the same way repeatedly. If you want to taste predictable, dependable, repeatable, inoffensive wine, don’t buy it from a musician!
